In the winter of 2017, our client, the Center for Safe Internet Pharmacies (CSIP), along with a growing coalition of stakeholders led by the North Carolina Department of State, sought our services to build a suite of two streamlined websites with related missions. One website – VerifyBeforeYouBuy.org – serves as a clearinghouse of information about legitimate and falsified online pharmacies. It allows users to check their online pharmacy’s website address against a partner’s certified database and to receive information about the pharmacy’s veracity. The goal of the website is to help consumers and others to easily search this database. In addition, this verification website provides users with the opportunity to share any stories about experiences with falsified online pharmacies or pharmaceuticals. It also provides them with a means of reporting suspicious activity of online pharmacies to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The companion website – SaveOnMyMeds.org – serves those seeking savings on prescription medications in their local area and provides a zip code and medication name powered search tool. A branded prescription medicine savings card can be printed and used at the local pharmacies, and there is an option to request a permanent plastic version of this card. There is a supplementary search tool which allows consumers to see if additional national patient assistance programs run by various organizations can assist with further savings on medication costs.
With a strategic focus on promotion of these tools in North Carolina and additional states as the sponsoring coalition expands, these sites were built as single-page services for easy access for end users. Both sites provide the search services needed from third-party hosted tools without requiring the end user to leave the landing page. We incorporated existing brand markers and information in the build of the websites and provided important strategic planning across multiple stakeholders to ensure each search component was vetted and tested thoroughly to ensure user-friendliness and responsive (mobile) compatibility. We implemented Google analytics, security services, and other mechanisms to ensure that end-users would be confident in the curated resources accessed from the website and so that the partners could track progress of website interaction in a forthcoming promotional campaign.
