Washington Theological Consortium: Responsive Website and Collateral Updates (2016)
The Washington Theological Consortium (WTC) is a Greater Washington, D.C.-based community of graduate theological schools and other organizations of diverse Christian and interfaith traditions that supports the formation of ministry and theology students in ecumenical unity and interfaith understanding.
In 2012, we worked in close collaboration with them to design and develop their new website, which included a custom-built, end-user searchable listing of courses from a dozen graduate schools of theology in the Greater Washington, D.C area and the broader Mid-Atlantic region. In 2015, we worked closely with WTC staff and board members to improve strategic processes with respect to digital communications on their website, via social media and email marketing. One of the long-term commitments to come out of this engagement was an update to their website to enable a more mobile-friendly engagement with key constituencies, especially students at the graduate schools which comprise the Consortium.
Over the summer of 2016, we worked with the Consortium staff to plan a mobile-friendly update to the website to allow the site to be optimized for appearance and search engines on mobile and tablet devices. We implemented a new message bar at the top of the website in mobile views to provide easy access to significant content, while ensuring that course searches could be performed easily from mobile devices. We further implemented menu navigation improvements and performed content optimization for the new mobile renderings.
